Being stuck in a traffic jam while sitting in the back of a cab can be a frustating experience, especially when the only thing to watch is the fare rising uncontrollably.
From next month, however, more than 1,000 London taxis are due to be fitted with televisions enabling pasengers to watch their favourite programmes on the move.
Named 'Cabvision', the new in-taxi television system will provide a wide variety of programmes including the award-winning BBC comedy The Office, as well as the Mayor's own channel, London TV.
Cabvision will also supply live scores from the biggest sporting events as they come in.
Daniel Young, a taxu driver from Essex, said: "I think it's a great idea.The system itself is very sleek and I'm positive the passengers are going to be impressed.
Cab drivers are known to be a pretty friendly bunch but I guess this system will take a bit of the pressure off us."
Once a passengers enters the cab, the system starts up. The passenger can then choose from seven channels using control buttons on the doors, which can also mute the volume.
Peter Da Costa, co-founder of Cabvision, added: "When you think of London, chances are you think of the traditional black cab. Cabvision maintains that evocative and traditional exterior whilst bringing the interior completely up to date.
"Cabvision keeps passengers entertained and informaed during their journey, and crucially, the passenger is always in control of what they choose to watch.
