Hi. :D
Some of us need to improve their english. If you want, we can begin by introduce each other.
If you see some mistake in ours sentences, tell us, please !
It's easier for me to talk in english, because I don't really take care not to do mistake. But, if I want to write in english, I need my dictonnary. Fortunately, I just have an oral for my exam. That's great for me.
So, let's go !
My name's Emilie. I'm twenty-four. I leave in south of France, near Cannes. I'm second year student in tourism (BTS AGTL, I haven't a clue how to translate this diploma  ). I really hope to pass this exam, like all of you, as I can imagine ! I take correspondence course. It's quite difficult, especially for the languages, but you have some advantages as well  .
Ok, I think it's enought for the moment.
The best would be to have a very nice English-speaking to correct our work  .
So, it's just a beginning but I think it could be usefull.
Whose turn is it ? Even if you think that you are very bad in english, try to do it. Take a dictonnary and just try. ok ?

I can introduce myself, but I don't think it's gonna be interesting. Anyway, that's a good idea to create such topic in order to improve our English ;)

I don't really know what to say in this topic, except that i've spent 2 years in Ireland and i'm not bilingual. It's a shame...

I can still try to help you. :P

It's not a shame celca, it's really hard to be bilingual. I've been living in the US for 4 years, and I don't know if I can consider myself as bilingual ;)

Well, I think that it was a good idea !
I don't know what we should talk about. It's like a general forum. We can deal with lots of subjects.
Anyway, it's quite funy to write in English. I lived in Ireland as well during 9 months but it was 4 years ago so I've forgoten a lot ! Such a pity.
Everybody should try. Even if you have nothing to say. It doesn't matter really.
See you

I've corrected your English emiliiiie ;)

Has anyone watched a movie in English so far?

Thank you Racoon !
I've watched several movies in English. It's quite difficult because if you don't understand what the actor says, you can't ask him to repeat slowly !
But each time, I have understood the story so it's not that bad, is it !?

I feel like I write like I speak ! You understand what I mean ? I think I make a lot of mistakes in my sentences. I'm sorry. Maybe I'm not as good as I suppose  ! I should go back to Ireland straight away ! before my examination !

I totally understand your point! At the beginning, it was hard for me to understand some movies. Now, I understand 90% of the dialog! The best way to learn is to practice it, and watching movies is a good way to improve it.

Don't worry emiliiiie, you are good ;) You'll be fine for your oral examination ;)

hello !

First, that's a great topic, good idea.

then, my teacher told me that if you talk, write, understand, dream and think in a foreign language you are bilingual.

Sorry if i did some mistake.

Well i'm sarah, i'm 20 and i live in the suburbs of paris. I'm doing a bts of personal assistant.
i want to speak english fluently.

i don't know if what i wrote means something !!!!

sometimes i watched my dvd in english, with the english subtitles ! i'm happy because i can understand (only with the subtitles ! :( , sometimes without when it's the english english not the american english).
once time per week, i have a conversation in english to improve myself. At oral, it's more difficult i think.

pfff ! franchement dites-moi si c'est nul ce que j'écris

I dont think you are bilingual when you think and dream in english. That's what I did the first week i was in Dublin. Not because I was bilingual, but because I was obliged to think in English, I had so many headaches at first...

I watched lots of movies in english there, i went to the cinema once per month, and i rented lots of videos. Even if it's hard to understand all the words, i could understand the meaning of the movies. My favourite ones there were "matrix", "american beauty", "cube" (very hard to understand in english), "never been kissed" (girlie movie  ) etc... :D

that's what my teacher told me. i didn't say she's right.
i train myself in watching 'sex and the city' in english... that's funny because they're completly crazy.

Racoon, as you're living in us, could you learn us some typical american expression ? the american you speak with your friends, for example, because, at school, we learn the "polite" english...

For people who lives or have lived in us, irland, uk, etc... why and how did you do ? (of course you have to understand what i mean before answering to my question ! )
