I could go with Suntrek because it's a good agency and being au pair, i have a discount but with a friend but I prefer to plan our trip by myself,
so we will rent a car and we'll drive across the desert between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, on the a part of the historic road 66, not a long time because it's a historic road now huh what?, and the most of the road is closed. And we willsleep in hostels, so we can meet a lot of people who's coming from every countries around the world.
And of course, I'm lucky, it's my california dream :)
I'll send a postal card to cultureco :D what is the address?
and otherwise, i live in america so i can leave now but when i'll be working i couldn't travel, so ! have fun ! lol this sentence doesn't make any sense... you lived in america so you can... go there whenever you want? is that right ?
i hope to go back there in 1 or 2 years when I will have enough money to see again my host family and travel in the usa

ok... :chessy:
so you decided to plan your trip by yourself... but wouldn't it be cheaper with an organism like suntrek? I checked the prices lately and they were pretty interesting.

but, hey, your choice, right?!

so you're gonna drive along the road 66? aren't you afraid? most of the horror movie with teens-driving-in-the-desert happened on that road, like Hills have eyes, for example... hihihi
will you see the Grand Canyon? i always wanted to see it.

instead of a postcard, you can post a picture with a nice word to us, stuck in France with our miserable summer  :embarassed: :tickedoff:

well, anyway, have a good trip. when do you leave?

i wanted to say, it's easier to travel when you are already in the US,
i don't know if it's cheaper to organize by myself.
I paid around 380 dollars for my flights, 220 dollars for the hostels .
after we have to pay the car, the foods, the extras...
i leave mid-july, i can't waittttttttttttttttttttt :wub :notstupide:
and of course i'll see the Grand Canyon, one night we'll sleep in a Bed&Breakfast on the road 66 in a western city called Williams.
fun ;) but we'll sleep in good hostels with a lot of students, teenagers etc, with a lot of cheap visits..
and no, i'm not afraid, don't worry!

for the road 66, i wanted to explain, a part of this road is closed because it doesn't really exist anymore, it's an old road, now the road 40 took her place. But there is a lot of hotels, shops, etc..

sorry for my mistakes in english, but before i didn't know to write something without 1 millions of mistakes lol, now i'm a little better, but i'm writting too fast and i forget some words.

oh ok, you're already in the states... you lucky. Where about? How is your job? Is it a good family?

don't worry for the mistake... you're still understandable... :wink2:

my family is wonderful, generous, very nice ! Everything is well, I'm really feeling at home..
I take care of Madeline (4,5) and even if she's crazy lol, I love her, it' the perfect family!
the job is not hard, i start my day when i pick maddy up at school at noon and i finish between 7pm ans 8pm.
And the most of time she's an easy child, i have no problem with her. The monday and the wednesday morning i take courses in an university.
and i live in washington dc, the city is nice, very quiet but it's ok, but i live in the suburb, and finally i stay here a lot.
a great year :)

do you have your driving licence? if not, is it a problem for you?
i heard it was better to have it... well, it depends on where you're sent, i suppose...

Yes, I do,
I just exchanged my french driver licence,
you have to go to a DMV, give your french driving licence, your passport, and some documents like the DS2019 which proves you're living here, you're aupair..etc.
and in a few minutes it's ready.
I live in Virginia, so it's easy, for some states you have to take the exam.
I'm lucky again, and my driver licence is an id, so i can keep my passport at home. I was worried about to lost it before.

Hi everyone!!!

I've never seen this topic before, I don't know how I managed to but I did it !!!!

Anyway, I am in Ireland as a aupair (in Dublin) since 1 year now (whaou the time goes very quickly!)
So my family is just perfect I couldn't find better!

I will leave next August but before my parents are coming over for one week. But we won't stay in Dublin all week (it will be quite boring, one day will be enough!), so i was thinking to go to county Galway. I just hope the weather will be alright because this year, we didn't have any summer, it was just dreadful.

Talk to you soon ;)
