Hello !

Do you remember me ! I went to Malta for learning English at EC School and have a great time. I've had my certificate of studies ! I'm glad ! Of course
I was in host family...In fact, I've had a problem with my first host family, because they was leaving in slovakia during my linguistic stay also I changed for a new accomodation. After, I lived by my English teacher ! Normally, it's more expensive but I don't know why :pascompris; She was a 2nd mother for me and the last she said me...I will miss you, I love you, please come again !...I like her malteses soups, and malteses foods. It was very good ! She always laughs ! I remind when we're speaking together...It was very nice. Have a great time ! I really want to go back again in Malta Island. There's a lot of historics cities ! And I think.... You have to visit the blue lagoon like the paradise...Golden Bay's, Mdina the silent city...It was lovely ! Sorry for the mistakes !

I'm sorry but... no this sentence is not right and it does not depend on where I've learnt english (actually I've learn english first in England then at school and in the US, then at the university and now in Australia... lol)

Well anyway, you CAN'T say 'it's best to say nothing' I mean if you say 'it's BETTER to say nothing' it's ok everybody will understand you, even if it's not the better way to tell it it's fine !

And I guess you wanted to say 'Parfois c'est mieux de ne rien dire' so BEST is not the appopriate word, you do have to use BETTER which is a comparative.

BEST = superlative ok? so if you absolutely want to use BEST you have to change your setence, you can't use a superlative like BEST without 'the'.

If you really wanted to use a superlative, by meaning, 'Parfrois LE MIEUX c'est de ne rien dire' you have to change your sentence which is still wrong and write : ' Sometimes the best thing is to say anything' but it still sounds french! I would better say 'Sometimes the best thing is to keep silent' !

so you have to choose between a superlative (without forgetting to use 'THE' best) or to use a comparative with BETTER, which is, the best () choice !

-> Sometimes it's better not to say anything

I speak English fluently and have lived in the United States for my whole life, so trust me here :wink2: You're both right! You can hear both of those ("it's best to say nothing" and "it's better to say nothing") all the time, and I assure you they would be understood equally as well.

As far as the proper usage of the superlative is concerned, you may be right (although I'm not positive of that), but it is nevertheless true that there's tons of stuff in the English language that people say that doesn't quite work grammatically. For example, the phrase "long time no see!" is wrong on every level in terms of grammar, but you can hear it all the time here in the United States, and it's understood by absolutely everyone! (The phrase, fyi, comes from the English spoken by Chinese immigrants many decades ago that was rather poor in quality -- hence how it makes very little sense, despite being understood and used by all.)

Bottom line : both are correct  Just don't ever use a double negative!

I dont know... but i see a english woman more shy and wedged..(coincée?ca se dit comme ca?)

Australians girls are really hot and lots of them are sluts (sorry about that )!!!That's why i wanted to know if Irish girls are similar!!

British girls are identical in the street I appreciate their sense of fashion :dacc: one step ahead comparing to us always in advance comparing to France (supposed country of fashion )
in the club I have to admit lot of them are dressed like beetch I have never seen that in a french club (btw I'm talking about clubs in London and Paris never tried other cities yet)

no wonder why French woman are so respected through the world, we have a positive image because we still manage to be ultra feminine without being slutty, we are elegant, we are glamorous some guy appreciate our difference at least my boyfriend does :wub

that is so wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!! In a lot of countries, french women are considered as the coldest and the most arrogant women on the world.

I'm in australia, and how many times people said to me : i thought that you, french women, were cold and unpleasant (nice translation of "frozen bitches" ) !!!
same thing around london.

I know where the mistake comes from. I don't say "I'm french" but "I'm from Paris" please don't see this as arrogant but anytime you say that you are from paris you should see their eyes shining of sudden interest.

I think it's a good idea too because it's difficult for me and permit me to speak english
you don t say "permit" but "allow or enables me "
