Well anyway, you CAN'T say 'it's best to say nothing' I mean if you say 'it's BETTER to say nothing' it's ok everybody will understand you, even if it's not the better way to tell it it's fine !
And I guess you wanted to say 'Parfois c'est mieux de ne rien dire' so BEST is not the appopriate word, you do have to use BETTER which is a comparative.
BEST = superlative ok? so if you absolutely want to use BEST you have to change your setence, you can't use a superlative like BEST without 'the'.
If you really wanted to use a superlative, by meaning, 'Parfrois LE MIEUX c'est de ne rien dire' you have to change your sentence which is still wrong and write : ' Sometimes the best thing is to say anything' but it still sounds french! I would better say 'Sometimes the best thing is to keep silent' !
so you have to choose between a superlative (without forgetting to use 'THE' best) or to use a comparative with BETTER, which is, the best ( :biggrinchoice !
-> Sometimes it's better not to say anything

I know where the mistake comes from. I don't say "I'm french" but "I'm from Paris" please don't see this as arrogant but anytime you say that you are from paris you should see their eyes shining of sudden interest.Nessscafe link=topic=168.msg598716#msg598716 date=1179569389 a dit:that is so wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!! In a lot of countries, french women are considered as the coldest and the most arrogant women on the world.
I'm in australia, and how many times people said to me : i thought that you, french women, were cold and unpleasant (nice translation of "frozen bitches" ) !!!
same thing around london.
you don t say "permit" but "allow or enables me "Mkalimero link=topic=168.msg993#msg993 date=1124050941 a dit:I think it's a good idea too because it's difficult for me and permit me to speak english
